FAQ

Is swai fish better than tilapia?

Swai fish is imported from closely packed fish farms where excessive amounts of chemicals and antibiotics are used, causing water pollution and health concerns. It is sometimes mislabeled and sold as higher-value fish.

Which is better catfish or swai?

If shopping in North America, one can find fresh tilapia, but swai will always be found frozen. Taste- and texture-wise, there’s not a huge difference, especially when the sauce is the star of the dish. Tilapia tends to be fattier than swai, and it can have darker bits to the flesh.

How do you know when swai is done?

People will argue that swai has a cleaner taste than catfish because swai’s flavor is more on the bland side; the meat itself is not as flavorful as catfish, so swai takes on the flavors of the seasonings used to prepare it.
